The White Volta river runs through Daboya and so the river is an important part of life. Women come to the shores and stand on this bridge to do their washing, boys play and swim in the river and fresh fish is caught as sold as far away as Tamale and to all surrounding villages.
A canoe serves as a crossing bridging the gap between the main road on either side of the river. This photo gives you an idea of the size of the river. On the far left you can see a canoe taking a motorcycle across the river.
The water is not particularly clear but it isn’t dirty and is a valuable resource for local people.
